Feel the joy

I had some help

Made with the team at Superrb

When JoonByrd came to Superrb, they were just getting started. They had this amazing vision: scientifically-backed skincare with a soulful touch. The founder, who’s deeply passionate about the science behind skin health, wanted a Shopify site that didn’t just sell products but told their story in a way that felt fresh, modern, and, most importantly, true to who they are.

Bringing this vision to life online, the site had to feel clean and professional, with a sense of discovery and personality—something that stood out but didn’t overwhelm.

Emotive & Interactive

The homepage was all about setting the tone. Big, bold visuals and clean typography, but not too clinical or cold. It had to feel approachable and intriguing, like an invitation to explore.

Each product in Joonbyrd’s range has its own vibe, and so every product page a unique look, each with its own distinct design details. Inspired by the product’s ingredients or benefits, different colour palettes and imagery were chosen to match the mood and story of each product. It’s subtle, but impactful, and the end result is an immersive, engaging experience that feels tailored to the product.

The site includes a number of bespoke features built on top of Shopify’s core functionality, including:

  • Configurable functionality to allow free gifts to be automatically added to orders over a certain value.
  • Gift wrapping and hand-written gift message options in the cart.
  • A custom built upsell widget for Recharge subcriptions, seamlessly integrated into the cart.
  • Custom widgets for product pages and the cart, upselling accessories and other products.

What I learned…

CSS variables are immensely powerful

Building this site wouldn't have been possible without the use of CSS variables. Thanks to them, I was able to create a consistent design system that was easy to maintain and update, allowing admins to completely change the feel of the page by specifying just two colours.
